You are scrolling before bed, your wife three feet away, and something stops you. A video. A man explaining, with absolute certainty, exactly what women want and why your wife will never give it to you. You feel a flicker of recognition. Maybe he is right. You keep watching.
The Algorithm Is Not Your Friend
Here is what that platform knows about you. Outrage keeps you watching. Fear keeps you watching. The feeling that you finally understand the enemy, that keeps you watching longest of all.
Creators learn this fast. The harsher they get, the more views they collect. More views mean more money, so they get harsher. It is not a conspiracy. It is just math, and you are the variable being solved for.
The content that makes you feel vindicated about men or women as a whole is not insight. It is a trap dressed up as clarity.
What It Is Actually Doing to You at Home
You do not leave that content on your phone. You carry it to the dinner table. You carry it into arguments. You start pattern-matching your wife against a caricature some stranger built to maximize his watch time.
She says something small and you hear it through the filter of ten videos that told you women always do this.
That is not you reading your marriage clearly. That is you reading your marriage through someone else's algorithm-optimized script. The two things feel identical from the inside, and that is exactly the problem.
Political content has been doing this to families for years. Left versus right, us versus them, every piece of nuance sanded down until all you can see is the battle line. Gender content works the same way. Men versus women. Winners versus losers. Your marriage cannot survive a war you imported from a stranger's feed.
What to Do
You are not going to fix this by trying harder to love your wife. You fix it upstream.
Spend one week tracking how content about men and women makes you feel after you watch it. Not during, after. If you consistently feel more suspicious, more defensive, or more certain that your wife is the problem, the content is shaping you in a direction you did not choose.
That is the audit. One week. Write it down if you have to. What you consumed, what you felt, what you brought home.
Most men who do this are genuinely surprised. Not because the content was obviously bad. Because it felt like education right up until they looked at what it produced in them.
Think carefully about what you allow into your mind. It may be doing more damage to your marriage than anything your wife has ever said or done.
Your feed is not neutral. Neither is the man you are becoming because of it.
